In the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon in the Wasatch Mountain Range in Utah lies a secretive storage facility protected by millions of pounds of Quartz / Granite, commonly known as the Granite Mountain Record Vault. The facility has been in operation since 1938 and has supposedly stored historical records and information on behalf of the LDS (Mormon) church. What isn’t known about this facility however, is its alternate purposes. For example, within this cave of immeasurable depth lies a bunker designed to protect the LDS leadership in case of a Nuclear Attack / Fallout. Additionally, when visiting you will almost always see Army personnel protecting the entrance. What else are they hiding in there?

I heard that George Lucas stores the original Star Wars films there too. This site is great by the way, keep it up!

There are actually two granite vaults in the same canyon. One is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints the other is privately owned to store documents of its customers. If you enter “Granite Vaults” into you search engine you can learn about them both.

There are 2 vaults up that canyon, one is private (Perpetual Storage Inc) and one (actually 3 vaults) owned by the Church. I have been to both, and used to work at the Church vaults, and never once did I see Military personell standing guard, only Church Security for obvious reasons. As for Nulclear Protection for Church Leaders….I suppose it could be, it would definitley do….but they spend so much of their time traveling the world, sharing their faith, that I’m sure someone else would be saved by the vaults. They used to give tours, years ago, but for security reasons, they no longer do, however, Perpetual Storage will give tours to prospective customers and groups, but the Church vaults are far more impressive. I hope this helps.

There are several things, the urim and thummim, the sword of Laban, Joseph Smith’s mummified body, and guarded by something more than soldiers are the original gold plates!

Andrew
That is rediculous. Joseph’s body is buried in Nauvoo with those of Hyrum and Emma. The urrim and thummim along with the gold plates were delivered back up to the angel Moroni as Joseph said. Please don’t spread myths but keep postings based on fact.
Thanks
